1. What is Piped Natural Gas (PNG)?

PNG means Piped Natural Gas. Natural Gas is supplied to your kitchen through pipelines hence it is called as piped natural gas.

2. What is the difference between PNG and LPG?

LPG is Liquefied Petroleum Gas and PNG is Piped Natural Gas. LPG is supplied in liquid form just as the name suggests in cylinders whereas PNG is supplied through a pipeline. LPG is heavier than air hence in case of leakage it settles down on floor while at the same time natural gas is lighter than air hence in case of leakage it gets easily ventilated and disappeared in air. This makes PNG very much safer than LPG cylinder.

3. Is PNG is cheaper than LPG?

Yes, PNG has always been cheaper to LPG. At current price PNG is cheaper than 20-22% from subsidised LPG and 45-50% than non-subsidised LPG.

4. Is the supply of PNG regular?

Yes, the supply is absolutely regular. The pipeline distribution network is based on an on-line supply system that consists of safety valves and regulators that control and monitor the gas supply and pressure, and assist in identifying system leaks. Thus an un-interrupted supply at a constant pressure is assured. It is as uninterrupted like electricity supply.

5. Is PNG Safe?

Yes, PNG is 100% safe than LPG. Natural gas is lighter than air, so in case of leakage, it rises & disperses into air given adequate ventilation.

6. How can I avail the PNG Gas supply?

Availing the gas supply is a simple process. The process includes
  • Registration Form
  • Agreement Document
  • Fixed Amount Payment for Facilities (* Subjected to Gas network availability & technical feasibility)
Once you have completed the registration formalities by filling in the form and agreement document and pay the fixed amount to the Gas Company, the connection will be provided to you. A meter, a valve and a regulator will be installed in your house. Once this process is over, you will have uninterrupted supply of safe fuel gas available for your requirements.

7. Can I get the connection, if I live in a rented house ?

Yes you can have a connection even if you live in a rented house. However, for this the landlord, the owner of the house will have to make an application or if you want to apply for it you will have to get a No Objection Certificate from the owner for the same.

8. What do I need to provide to get a PNG Gas connection?

  • Identity Proof (Aadhar Card Compulsory)
  • Residence Proof.
  • LPG connection details

9. What is the cost of getting a PNG connection?

We provide gas installation at free of cost.ie. by filling form of domestic registration, we will install gas connection and when installation is about to commission, below charges need to pay.
Presently, we are charging Rs. 6500/- for a domestic connection, comprising of :
  • Application form fee Rs. 250/- + GST (Non-Refundable)
  • Registration & processing fee Rs. 1000/- + GST (Non-Refundable)
  • Interest free security deposit Rs. 5000/- (Refundable)

10. Do I need to make any changes to my gas stove for using PNG gas?

Yes, you have to make some very basic changes to your stove which shall be carried out by the authorized technician at the time of the connection. This cost shall be borne by company.

11. What do I have to do with my LPG cylinder once I get the PNG connection?

You will have to return the cylinder to your current gas supplying company after which you will get your deposit refund back from them.

12. What is the system of billing?

Billing is based on the meter readings taken by the authorised UEPL staff once in two months for the domestic consumers. The bills are delivered at the customer's residence.

13. How, when and where should my gas bill be paid?

You will receive your gas bill at a fixed date. Once you receive the bill, you will have to deposit the bill amount before the due date at the place indicated therein by cash/Cheque only.

14. Is it possible to make any changes in my gas line, if required?

Yes, changes required by you for your gas line are possible. Once you make an application for your required changes, the Company will then let you know the estimated cost that needs to be deposited for work to begin.

15. What is the procedure for surrendering Gas connection permanently as we are moving out and have sold the flat?

Fill up your request form at UEPL office for permanent disconnection along with contact number in writing to our Customer Care and our representative will visit your premises and disconnect the line. Please ensure that all the previous dues are cleared at the time of disconnection.

16. How are customer queries and complaints attended to?

We have helpline service for attending to your queries / complaints. Our network of control rooms are manned 24 hours by Engineers and trained technicians to address any queries / complaints.
